Florida Senate Passes Senate Bill 10

This week was an epic milestone in the fight for legislation to begin the process of restoring the Florida Everglades and the rest of Florida’s waterways. On Tuesday, May 2, the Florida Senate and House of Representatives passed Senate Bill 10, which paved the way for a much-needed reservoir south of Lake Okeechobee to help curb freshwater discharges into the St. Lucie and Caloosahatchee Rivers, as well as sending much-needed freshwater south through the Everglades and into Florida Bay.

This victory was thanks to extensive efforts by groups such as Captains for Clean Water, and by fishing guides, anglers, homeowners and business owners from around the country who spoke out in support of saving these fragile ecosystems.

SeaDek has joined Captains for Clean Water in the fight, recently making the trip to the Florida State Capitol in Tallahassee to urge lawmakers to pass the bill. With this great success, we can celebrate, but will remain vigilant and active to continue pushing for action that will help restore Florida’s waterways to their former state.
