SeaDek – Tow Boat U.S. Project

SeaDek Marine Products has worked closely with Boat US for many years now, you may have seen us in their Magazine on a pretty regular basis. We’ve just embarked on a very cool new project with them and Tow Boat U.S., you know they’re the guys who save your butt when things go wrong out on the water. Captain Scott Stebleton, owner/operator of TowBoatU.S. Daytona has brought us his 1977 26 Mako to see what we can do with her. We post a lot of photos of SeaDek on brand new boats, just out of the factory with pretty girls on the bow and a cocktail in their hands. This is not that boat. This Mako is a workhorse. This is the kind of boat that saves the day when you’re too many miles off shore and your in trouble.

BoatUS_TowBoat_000

We’ll be #SeaDeking the helm station, decks, and gunnels. This is going to relieve much of the fatigue the captains and crew experience when they find themselves in big chop or have to get down on their hands and knees to work. It’s also going to cut down on the glare from the white gel coat, reduce the running noise and save the old decks from more chipping, cracking and scratching. It will also give her a bit of a facelift. While she’ll still be a little rough around the edges, the new pads with finished beveled edges and some cool graphics are really going to make a difference in appearance.

BoatUS_TowBoat_001

We’ve just scanned the boat this week as you can see in the photos. We’ll be posting regular updates as the project progresses so I hope you’ll check back in regularly to see how this unique job develops. You can also follow along on our social media pages: FaceBook, InstaGram, Flickr, Pinterest, Twitter, Google+, Tumbler and our SeaDek Blog.

Special thanks to Boat U.S. (http://www.boatus.org/) and Tow Boat U.S.(http://www.boatus.com/towing/)

Bow Fishing With SeaDek

I gotta admit that I don’t know the first thing about bow fishing from a boat but I happened across these photos on http://bow.fishingcountry.com/ the other day and thought this was pretty cool. The SeaDek kit on this boat was made for www.polebuster.com, a charter company out of North Carolina. I don’t know them personally or have any affiliation with them but here is all the info I could find: http://polebuster.com/ Contact: Andy@Polebuster.com 828-640-8422

SeaDek at Nautique Wake Games

2014_Wake_Games

World’s Top Wakeboarders Opening 2014 Season at Nautique Wake Games in Orlando

Over 200 Professionals and Amateurs Flocking to Orlando Watersports Complex April 24-27

Orlando, Fla. — Wakeboarding’s elite series will open its 2014 season with the highly-anticipated Nautique (http://nautique.com/) Wake Games presented by Rockstar Energy Drink on April 24-27 at Orlando Watersports Complex (http://www.orlandowatersports.com/). The event, recognized as one of the largest and most prestigious wakeboarding competitions in the world, expects an international field of more than 200 athletes at this year’s contest to compete across 24 divisions.

With one of the deepest pools of talent in the history of the Pro Men’s division, a who’s who of the world’s top riders will be in Orlando to launch their 2014 King of Wake campaigns. Among the favorites at Wake Games is last year’s Rookie of the Year winner and Team Nautique rider, Mike Dowdy. The 19 year-old prodigy spent the off-season fine tuning his contest runs behind the undisputedly proven Super Air Nautique G23, one of the official tow boats at this year’s Wake Games. With Rookie of the Year honors under his belt, Dowdy now has aspirations of dethroning the 2013 King of Wake Season Title winner Phil Soven. To gain an early points lead on Soven, an Orlando native, Dowdy will have to out-duel the hometown hero on his home turf. A long list of other top pro men will undoubtedly figure into the equation at Wake Games including last year’s Wake Games winner Harley Clifford and fan favorite and Team Nautique rider, Bob Soven.

“It’s awesome to start the new season again with the Nautique Wake Games at Orlando Watersports Complex,” said Chris Bischoff, competition director at World Sports & Marketing. “The G23 is pumping out one of the most impressive wakes I’ve ever seen, so sky’s the limit for what we’ll be seeing the riders perform off it this year.”

A slew of professional female riders will also be in Orlando to open up the 2014 Queen of Wake season. Among the favorites competing for Wake Games gold are Team Nautique riders Raimi Merritt and Meghan Ethell.

Upping the ante at Wake Games, this year’s event will also include a team competition element. 10 preselected pro riders will serve as team captains and host a live draft on Friday, April 25, consisting of the 90 remaining athletes who advanced past the initial qualifying rounds. The captains will form teams from the 24 professional and amateur divisions. Over the course of the final two days of competition, the athletes will compete in their respective divisions, which are separated by age, sex and skill level, while contributing points toward a team score based on their individual placement in that division. The team with the highest collective score will win the overall title. All 24 divisions will crown an individual winner as well.

In addition to the jaw-dropping wakeboarding action, the world’s top wakeskaters will also compete at Wake Games. The competition draws some of the sport’s biggest names including Brian Grubb and Nautique team rider Brandon Thomas, who will be competing behind the all-new G21.

The Nautique Wake Games is stop number one on the eight-event King of Wake Series. Online adult tickets are available for $7 (46% off the gate price) Gate prices are: $13 (adult); $5 (ages 6-12); free (ages 5 and under). For information on the Nautique Wake Games, presented by Rockstar Energy Drink, visit www.kingofwake.com.

Seadek will be on site with a tent, samples and sales reps, http://www.seadek.com/

Jackson Kayak Cuda 12 SeaDek Kayak Pads

This is a repost of a recent article on YakAngler.com by Spencer Jones.

Jackson Kayak Cuda 12 SeaDek Kayak Pads

After this cold Wisconsin winter I was extremely happy to have soft water and be able to wet a line.  My kayak, a Jackson Cuda 12, was broke in last year and has traveled with me across the state fishing for bass and northern pike, to Kentucky for some Big Bass, and even Florida for the Yakangler/Kayak Fishing Radio Boondoggle!  Needless to say I have spent many hours in it sitting and standing fishing to my hearts content.  But there was something missing that could make the stealth of a kayak even better,  something to cover up the noise of your feet, water bottle, or rod.  The answer to that is SeaDek Non-Skid Pad.  After seeing pictures of their pads that friends of mine put on their yaks through FaceBook (https://www.facebook.com/SeaDek) I decided I needed one! Order one for yourself here: http://www.seadek.com/c-97-kayak-non-skid-pads.aspx

Cuda with no pads

jackson kayak no seadek pads

I ordered a plan gray pad which I figured would be nice on my feet after hours in the sun.  The pads showed up in just a couple days from when I ordered them.  The pads are soft, but strong.  They will be perfect under my feet when I’m standing and fishing!  The first decent weekend weather wise, they were going in!

Installing the pads was a breeze!  I scrubbed and cleaned the surface where I would attach them.  After that I placed the in their locations and made sure every piece fit just right.  Then I removed the film off the back about half way off the piece, and slowly placed the pad in the proper spot.  I peeled a little more and laid the pad down, a little more and there it is, attached!  I continued the process for the other pieces.  They give you pads for many locations, under the seat, where you feet go, in front of the feet on the flat spaces.

jackson kayak cuda seadek kit installed

seadek jackson cuda 12 closeup

Once installed the pads stay in place, no sliding or moving at all.  Now I can go into those tight kayak only places in complete stealth mode!
