Why am I being charged State Sales Tax?

On June 21, 2018, the Supreme Court ruled in favor of the state in South Dakota v. Wayfair, Inc. allowing states to require remote sellers to collect and remit sales tax even in states where they have no physical presence. Since the ruling, more than 40 states enacted economic nexus laws of their own.

As a result, items sold on SeaDek.com that are shipped to destinations in the following states and US territories may be subject to tax:

  • Arizona
  • California
  • Georgia
  • Florida
  • Idaho
  • Indiana
  • Kansas

PRODUCT QUESTIONS

What is SeaDek?

SeaDek is a superior alternative to marine carpet and traditional molded-in non-skid. Designed to withstand the harsh conditions of the outdoor environment, SeaDek is made from UV-resistant closed-cell PE/EVA foam that will not absorb water, and provides exceptional traction when wet or dry. SeaDek’s shock absorbing qualities deliver maximum comfort on the water, and fishermen appreciate its sound-dampening properties. SeaDek is fully customizable, and brings an aesthetically pleasing style to boats of all sizes.

Can SeaDek be applied over existing non-skid?

Yes. SeaDek adheres very well to most molded-in non-skids and properly applied and maintained aggregate type non-skid paints, as long as the surface is cleaned properly prior to installation. For extremely aggressive textures, we recommend sending photos to our Customer Service Team at customerservice@seadek.com

What is the life expectancy of SeaDek RV Step Treads?

Given the wide range of uses for RVs, from the occasional, once-a-year trip to everyday living, it’s challenging to provide a specific life expectancy for SeaDek RV Step Covers. We know there will be plenty of adventures while using our treads, which is why we have crafted them using two different material options – SeaDek HD and SeaDek Classic. SeaDek HD, perfect for the everyday high-traffic user, features a unique Tetrapod texture and offers a durable outer shell that’s built to withstand rigorous wear and tear. SeaDek Classic, designed with the comfort-seeking user in mind, showcases both our Teak routing option and our Embossed texture, providing a softer, more cushioned feel underfoot. The variety of options is what makes SeaDek RV Step Covers perfect for your steps!

Does SeaDek get hot?

As with any flooring product, darker colors will become warmer in the sun. Thanks to the closed-cell features of SeaDek, heat associated with any color will dispel quickly.

Can SeaDek sheets be seamed?

We do not recommend attempting to “seam” or butt the ends of SeaDek sheets together. Over time the PE/EVA blended material may naturally
shrink up to ¼”, and for this reason, we suggest leaving a ½” gap between parts.

How long will it stay adhered?

SeaDek has a 3 year warranty, however with proper care and storage, you can expect a longer lifespan. Our in-house lab constantly tests various substrates to ensure the best bond possible.

Can you do custom logos?

Yes, we can cut logos and text if supplied with a vector graphic of the logo, or given desired text style. Please note that written approval will be needed to produce any copyrighted logos.

How much is it for custom logos?

To request a custom quote for your individual project, please fill out the form located here. One of our SeaDek Certified Professionals will then reach out to discuss your project and provide you with a quote.

Is the product pet friendly (dogs)?

Many people use SeaDek to keep pets firmly planted on the boat, however SeaDek is made from PE/EVA blended foam materials, so if scratched or clawed at enough, the product will tear or rip. With this being said, SeaDek’s closed-cell material will not absorb water if punctured. SeaDek is not warranted against pet damage.

Will the product stain?

SeaDek is extremely stain resistant, however a few substances, such as fuel stabilizers, bird droppings, rust, and mustard can be problematic if not attended to in a timely manner. Prompt attention to these types of spills will ensure easy removal.

INSTALLATION & PRODUCT CARE

How is SeaDek applied?

SeaDek utilizes an acrylic-based pressure sensitive adhesive for a robust bond and easy peel-and-stick application.

Can SeaDek be applied over existing non-skid?

Yes. SeaDek adheres very well to most molded-in non-skids and properly applied and maintained aggregate type non-skid paints, as long as the surface is cleaned properly prior to installation.

For extremely aggressive textures, we recommend testing the area with a PSA test strip. To request PSA test strips, send photos of the texture in question, along with your shipping address to our Customer Service Team at customerservice@seadek.com

What is the best method to clean SeaDek?

The best method to clean SeaDek is with Dek Magic, which is SeaDek’s genuine branded cleaner, specifically formulated for use with PE/EVA foam. If Dek Magic is not available, SeaDek cleans easily with soap, hot water, and a stiff brush. For stubborn areas, a number of household products can be used. Do not use acid-based cleaners such as MaryKate’s Hull Cleaner. Click here for more information.

What do I cut SeaDek with?

For best results, use a fresh bladed razor knife. You may have to change blades during the job, depending on the amount of cuts made.

Can SeaDek sheets be seamed?

We do not recommend attempting to “seam” or butt the ends of SeaDek sheets together. Over time the PE/EVA blended material may naturally

If I choose to remove the pad how do I do this?

SeaDek is designed for a semi-permanent installation, but can be removed. The best method is to use a plastic putty knife to get under one corner, then grip and pull off. If the PE/EVA seems to be sticking and tearing, apply small amounts of acetone to the PSA and continue lifting with the putty knife. You may want to enlist another set of hands to assist. Once the entire pad is removed, there will be a small amount of PSA left on the surface. Soak with mineral spirits for 10 minutes, scrape with the plastic putty knife and a rag. Once the PSA has been removed, use acetone to remove the mineral spirits.

How do I prep the surface?

Wash surface thoroughly and let dry. Immediately before installation, wipe down the surface with 99% isopropyl alcohol and a new clean rag to remove any dirt, sunscreen, wax, sweat, etc. If the boat is new, you should repeat several times, as new boats often have residual mold release that may hinder adhesion. Be sure to check local and states laws regarding chemicals before using any questionable substances on the water.
