2014 marks the third year in a row that SeaDek Marine Products hosted the Melbourne High School Business Academy. The student were give a tour of the new 74,000 square foot fabrication facility in Rockledge, FL and a peek inside the workings of a growing US manufacturing company. They learned about what it takes to survive and grow in a recovering economy, what skill companies are looking for in future employees, the importance of innovation, creativity and a diverse skill set to a US manufacturer.
The students were great and had many insightful questions. We were also very impressed with all of the new product ideas they came up with at the end of the tour and are looking forward to a product development competition after the holiday break.
We’d like to that all the students who came out and say a special thank you to their exceptional teacher, Erik Perna. We actually have three of his former students working for us and the impact he had upon them can not be overstated. We are luck to have leaders like Erik in our community building and influencing the leaders and innovators of tomorrow.
