We all know SeaDek is great for deck kits, swim platforms, helm stations, and cooler tops—they all make boating so much safer and more enjoyable. But the reality is that the uses for SeaDek are endless! The combination of comfort and exceptional non-skid make SeaDek the perfect choice for any place where stylish traction is a must, be it on the water, land, or in the sky.
SeaDek Certified Fabricator Scott Kurtz of Contemporary Marine Flooring just finished this SeaDek stair job on a houseboat at the Twin Rivers Marina on Lake Roosevelt in Washington. The owners of the boat had been agonizing over how to make their steps less slick while still looking good, and after seeing some of the other jobs that Contemporary had done in the marina, decided custom SeaDek was the perfect solution.
Being a SeaDek Certified Fabricator, Scott can travel to your boat, capture the pattern, design and cut a custom kit, and return to install. Contemporary Marine Flooring can be reached at:

And not long after hearing from Scott, we received some photos from customer George Walley. George was doing some renovations on his ’94 Carver 370 Aft Cabin and decide SeaDek would be the perfect non-skid material for his project:
“All the stairs (main companionway, down to galley, down to aft cabin) were all carpeted and main companionway was covered with a cheesy plastic runner. Combination made the stairs very treacherous, (especially wearing bifocal glasses). You had to reach down with your toe to feel for the edge of the next step or risk a bad fall. New version has teak bullnose with inlaid SeaDek for visual contrast and great non-skid properties. Will be templating for the swim platform later after some other projects are completed.”
Georges’s steps came out looking great, highlighting what great results can be achieved with SeaDek DIY sheet material. With a sharp blade and a bit of time, SeaDek is easily cut to size, and is the perfect option for the do-it-yourself boater. In stock and ready to ship, sheet material is available in all standard SeaDek colors and features the same 3MTM pressure sensitive adhesive found on all SeaDek products.
