Backcountry Purple Heart/Disabled Veterans Slam II Helps Returning Vets

On August 23 and 24th, Project Healing Waters Inc. (https://www.projecthealingwaters.org/), along with the United States Marine Corps Wounded Warrior Regiment (http://www.woundedwarriorregiment.org/), the Vantage Point Foundation, and the Veterans Association held the second annual “Backcountry Purple Heart Slam” in Everglades National park.

The project brought 15 active duty/retired wounded and disabled veterans together with local charter captains for two days of idyllic fishing in the back country with the goal of assisting in their mental and physical rehabilitation after returning home from duty.

SeaDek was a proud returning sponsor of the event, and we are happy that we could contribute to a great cause for the heroes of our country.

One participant summed up his experience like this:

Sgt. Chad Wooten USMC (Ret.) … “What an amazing and unforgettable trip! Thank you and everyone who worked so hard to put this together for us. Especially all of the captains who took us out and showed us the healing powers of the Everglades!”

Many thanks to everyone that came together to make this event the success that it was!
